چکیده
Th e authors noticed after the publication of their article [1] an error in their abstract. Under the 'results' subsection , it currently reads " Relative to the reference range (MAXICU 36.5°C to 37.4°C), MAXICU ≥ 39.5°C increased risk of 28-day mortality in septic patients (adjusted odds ratio 8.14, P = 0.01), but not in non-septic patients (adjusted odds ratio 0.47, P = 0.11). " Th is should refl ect Table 4 and instead read " MAXICU ≥ 39.5°C increased risk of 28-day mortality in non-septic patients (adjusted odds ratio 8.14, P = 0.01), but not in septic patients (adjusted odds ratio 0.47, P =0.11) ". Competing interests The authors declare that they have no competing interests. Association of body temperature and antipyretic treatments with mortality of critically ill patients with and without sepsis: multi-centered prospective observational study
INTRODUCTION Fever is frequently observed in critically ill patients. An independent association of fever with increased mortality has been observed in non-neurological critically ill patients with mixed febrile etiology. The association of fever and antipyretics with mortality, however, may be different between infective and non-infective illness. METHODS We designed a prospective observatio...
متن کاملAntipyretic Therapy in Critically Ill Patients with Sepsis: An Interaction with Body Temperature
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The effect of antipyretic therapy on mortality in patients with sepsis remains undetermined. The present study aimed to investigate the role of antipyretic therapy in ICU patients with sepsis by using a large clinical database. METHODS The multiparameter intelligent monitoring in intensive care II (MIMIC- II) database was employed for the study. Adult patients with se...

OBJECTIVE This meta-analysis aimed to examine the impact of antipyretic therapy on mortality in critically ill septic adults. DATA SOURCES Literature searches were implemented in Ovid Medline, Embase, Scopus, Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, NHS Economic Evaluation Database, and ClinicalTrials.gov through February 2016. ...
متن کاملUsing Iron-Chelating Agents in Critically Ill Patients with Iron Overload. Fact or Fiction?
Recently, some evidence has shown that the failure of iron homeostasis may occur in critically ill patients and can lead to iron overload. Elevated ferritin levels as a body iron burden index in critically ill patients may be associated with depressed level of consciousness and greater mortality. However, the necessity of using iron-chelating agents in clinical situation is still unknown for th...
متن کاملThe relationship of serum vitamin D level with the outcome in surgical intensive care unit patients
The aim of this study was to assess the correlation of serum vitamin D with ICU length of stay, mortality rate, length of mechanical ventilation, and incidence of sepsis. We conducted a descriptive analytic study on 793 patients admitted to surgical ICU wards in northwest of Iran from March 2015 to March 2016. Patients were assessed during the ICU stay and the following data were collect...
